A Busy Saturday
Of course, when I call my Saturday busy, it's nothing like our kid's Saturdays, with all their kids' activities. But mine was fairly busy. Of course like most Saturdays, Bill and went to the church and ran off the bulletin for Sunday, then visited his mother in the nursing home. She still wasn't through eating and so we went into the Alzeimer's Unit where she eats her meals. (Closer supervision there) She was eating ice cream and kept looking at me and grinning like she knew something I didn't know. Sort of like when kids taunt each other with "neiner, neiner, neiner". Maybe it was because she had ice cream, and I didn't have any. She just sort of ignored Bill. Once in a while she would look at him. Sometimes the meds don't work quite as well as other times. When she was done eating we took her back to her room. I straightened up her clothes in her closet. If I don't do that, the aids just put on any old thing whether it matches or not, so I go through the clothes and match the pants to the blouses every week. Then we drove over to my mom's house. Kelly and her crew came. David and his wife and three kids were there. He is sure good with his kids. Andy and Mike came with a van so Andy could take back mom's old electric organ. He had said he wanted it years ago, and so it's gone now. That's a relief as I really didn't want to deal with it later. They had gotten there about 11 am, and had lunch. I processed fresh pumpkin for mom so she could make a couple pumpkins pies as that is Kelly's favorite pie. She always used to ask for it instead of a birthday cake. Although Kelly and Mike are divorced, they still get along. Mike even came to mom's birthday bash I had for her this summer. He's still part of the family. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all divorces were so amiable. I also packed up a lot of old cancelled checks to shred and burn, and some other papers, some genealogy, to go through and organize. We got home just before 5pm. Suprisingly, Mom wasn't that tired this morning. I was a bit worried about her with all the commotion going on there most of the day, but she handled it very well. Cindy is coming for a few days visit tomorrow. Melanie in the first part of December, Greg at the end of December, and Lori sometime in January. It's good that they get to make it while she is living.
